Weekly Construction Update: Oct. 27-31

Note - All lane restrictions and work operations are weather dependent and subject to change.

Verona Road work

  • Two lanes open to traffic (in each direction) on new northbound lanes, between the Beltline and Raymond Road.
    • Work zone speed limit is 30 mph. Drive with caution through the work zones.
    • NOTE: Frontage road speed limits are typically 25 mph. Drive with caution on the frontage roads, especially Britta Parkway.
  • Access remains open to area businesses and neighborhoods.
    • Regardless of any roadwork inconvenience, please continue to patronize area businesses in the Verona Road work zone.
  • Daytime reconstruction work on Verona Road southbound and frontage roads.
    • Work to occur approximately 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. (Oct. 27-Nov. 1).
    • Work includes: concrete pavement, sign bridge construction, signal work, pedestrian underpass construction, bridge/retaining wall construction, and pavement markings.
    • Concrete curb and gutter work along with new concrete sidewalk to resume throughout the week on the East Frontage Road early in the week and west frontage road later in the week.
    • Storm sewer will start on the West Frontage Road from Summit Road to the Subway driveway late in the week.
    • Grading on the East Frontage Road, between Red Arrow Trail and Britta Parkway, will finish up this week.
    • Asphalt paving will begin early in the week on the West Frontage Road, between the Goodwill driveway and Subway; in the roundabout area; on Summit Road; and the cul-du-sac by Gino's.
    • Signal work to take place at the intersection of Atticus Way and the East Frontage Road late in the week.
  • West Frontage Road, between Freeport Road and Home Depot, CLOSED to through traffic until late October.
    • Traffic in this area should use the Freeport Connection or Summit Road.
  • Pedestrians should use temporary walkways and permanent sidewalks (follow signed paths).
    • The West Frontage Road path is open between Freeport Road to Home Depot/Subway entrance.
    • Temporary path under new bridge by U-Haul and McDonald's is open.
    • East Frontage Road path is open between the Verona Road bridge and Thurston Lane on a combination of new sidewalk, existing sidewalk, and temporary asphalt walkway.
  • Freeport Connection is open to traffic (temporary roadway under Verona Road near Southwest Commuter Path).
    • The Southwest Commuter Path remains open in this area.

Westbound Beltline

  • Nightly lane closures on the westbound Beltline from Verona Road to Whitney Way. One lane of traffic to remain open.
    • 7 p.m. - 5 a.m. (Oct. 26-27)
    • 8 p.m. - 5 a.m. (Oct. 27-30)
    • 7:30 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. (Oct. 30-31)
    • 8:30 p.m. - 8 a.m. (Oct. 31-Nov. 1)
    • 8:30 p.m. - 10 a.m. (Nov. 1-2)
    • Some noise is anticipated with this work. Paving operations Wednesday night through Saturday night.
  • Daytime and nighttime ramp work from Verona Road to the westbound Beltline.
    • 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. (Oct. 27-Nov. 1)
    • Ramp to remain open during daytime operations.
    • Ramp CLOSED nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Oct. 27-Nov. 1). Alternate routes are required.
    • Starting Nov. 1, ramp traffic to be shifted to the right onto new pavement.
  • Daytime and nighttime work to occur in the median area, between Verona Road and Whitney Way. Some noise is anticipated with this work.
  • Rolling stops to occur on the westbound Beltline, between Todd Drive and Verona Road.
    • 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. (Oct. 28-29) – tentative and subject to change
    • Todd Drive ramp to the westbound Beltline will be CLOSED during this time. Alternate routes are required.
  • TRAFFIC SHIFT on the westbound Beltline, between Seminole Highway and Verona Road, until early November 2014.
    • Traffic shifted to the left shoulder with narrow lanes.
    • Work includes grading, storm sewer, and paving. Most of this work to occur during daytime hours.
  • TRAFFIC SHIFT on the westbound Beltline, between Verona Road and Whitney Way, until spring 2016.
    • Traffic shifted to the right shoulder with narrow lanes.
  • Upcoming traffic shift on the ramp from Verona Road/Midvale Blvd. to the westbound Beltline. Shift to occur in late October 2014.

Eastbound Beltline

  • Nightly lane closures on the eastbound Beltline from Whitney Way to Verona Road. One lane of traffic to remain open.
    • 7 p.m. - 5 a.m. (Oct. 26-27)
    • 8 p.m. - 5 a.m. (Oct. 27-30)
    • 7:30 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. (Oct. 30-31)
    • 8:30 p.m. - 8 a.m. (Oct. 31-Nov. 1)
    • 8:30 p.m. - 10 a.m. (Nov. 1-2)
    • Some noise is anticipated with this work. Paving operations Wednesday night through Saturday night.
  • TRAFFIC SHIFT on the eastbound Beltline, between Whitney Way and Verona Road, until spring 2015.
    • Traffic shifted to the right shoulder with narrow lanes.

East Frontage Road (west of Verona Road) from Red Arrow Trail to Atticus Way

  • In this area, traffic is shifted alongside the new northbound Verona Road bridge until early November 2014.
    • Red Arrow Trail CLOSED at the East Frontage Road. Alternate routes are required. No detour is posted.
    • Traffic maintained on two lanes or with flagging operations.
    • Access remains open to area businesses.

West Beltline Frontage Road/Hammersley Road (west of Verona Road)

  • CLOSED to through traffic, between Home Depot/Subway and the Southwest Commuter Path over the Beltline, until early November 2014.
    • Access remains open to area businesses.
    • Curb and gutter work, sidewalk and asphalt paving.

West Beltline Frontage Road (east of Verona Road)

  • CLOSED to through traffic, between Britta Parkway and Whenona Drive (south of the Beltline).
    • Alternate routes are required. Access remains open to area businesses.

Hammersley Road cul-du-sac (north of the Beltline)

  • CLOSED to traffic until late October 2014 for utility work. No detour posted.
